Home-grown, healthy, fragrant and tasty cucumbers, tomatoes or lettuce taste great, but in our latitudes it is best to grow them in a greenhouse. Of course, these structures are used not only for private needs, but also various companies often set up large greenhouses to engage in the cultivation of flowers, fruits and vegetables throughout the year, which also requires heating.

Nowadays, there are various shapes, sizes and materials available for those who want to build a greenhouse, and each of them has its own advantages. You just need to choose what suits your preferences and capabilities. Initially, to understand which direction to look in, you should definitely determine the purpose for which the greenhouse will be used. Then you can plan how big it should be and where to build it, as well as, of course, choose the covering material, which is a very important step. Prof offers two currently popular and in-demand greenhouse covering materials - polycarbonate and film.

  • Polycarbonate

This material is becoming increasingly popular in greenhouse construction. Its main advantages are its long lifespan, attractive appearance and high thermal insulation properties. Prof offers white, transparent and bronze-colored polycarbonate sheets. They are made of tubes that are tightly connected together, and their ends are sealed with a special tape, which prevents dust and moisture from entering the material. When polycarbonate sheets are properly installed, the greenhouse will serve for many years, but it should be noted that snow should not accumulate on the roof during winter, as its weight can damage the supporting structure. If it is not possible to remove the snow, it is wiser to choose thicker polycarbonate sheets and a sturdy structure.

Polycarbonate covering will ensure that sudden frost does not damage the plants, as it provides high thermal insulation. However, in order for this material to serve properly, it needs to be properly cared for and maintained to prevent dust from accumulating on it.

  • Film

This is a relatively cheaper option compared to polycarbonate, but accordingly, its service life is shorter - about two to six years, depending on the chosen film, the number of layers and other factors. The durability of the film greenhouse is determined by its thickness, which is indicated in millimeters, chemical composition, as well as reinforcement. By choosing a thicker and higher quality film, you will have less to worry about whether it will withstand vibrations, temperature fluctuations, sunlight, wind, snow, etc.

Although it is often believed that the frame material for film greenhouses should be made of wood, it should be remembered that this can be a relatively expensive option. Instead, you can choose plastic pipes, which can be used to create both triangular and arched roofs. When installing a film greenhouse, attention should be paid to ensuring that there are no sharp edges at the points where the frame and film meet, as they can quickly damage the film. It is also important to remember that dark-colored pipes will heat up more in the sun, and high temperatures can quickly "burn" the film.

A safer choice is to cover the film in two layers - one inside the structure and the other outside. Bubble wrap can be used to separate the layers.

Film greenhouses provide very good light transmission and are easy to operate. However, considering the characteristics of the material, in strong sunlight the film greenhouse can heat up significantly, so special attention should be paid to its ventilation system, otherwise the plants in it can quickly burn.

Prof offers film greenhouses in various sizes and colors - light blue, white and transparent. The UV-stabilized film not only protects against the strong impact of sunlight and plant burning, but also ensures a consistent temperature inside the greenhouse.

  • Polycarbonate greenhouses

Whether to build a greenhouse from scratch, purchasing all the necessary materials for the foundation, frame, roof and flooring, or to buy a ready-made polycarbonate greenhouse, each owner can decide for themselves. Prof offers various greenhouse models from different manufacturers that only need to be installed, and you can start planting and sowing.

There are both traditional arched and original gable and well-known greenhouses with triangular roofs available. The greenhouse frame is made of durable, galvanized steel, which can withstand even heavier snow loads in winter.

Greenhouses of various sizes are available. They can be 2, 4, 6 or even 12 meters long. They can also vary in width - from 2.35 to 3 meters. Attention should also be paid to the height of the greenhouse, so that it is comfortable to be inside and there is enough space for the planned plant cultivation. At Prof, you will find greenhouses with heights ranging from 2 to 2.45 meters. Everyone can choose a greenhouse that fits in the chosen location and provides enough space for growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc.

Greenhouses are equipped not only with quality doors, but also with windows for ventilation. Additionally, it is possible to purchase hatches, walkway dividers, tables, automatic hatch openers, additional doors, internal greenhouse partitions, as well as, of course, an irrigation system, which is an important component of any greenhouse and facilitates care for the plants inside.

When setting up a greenhouse, pay attention to its location - whether the plants will be exposed to continuous direct sunlight, what shading options are available, and how to provide a water supply system, etc. Experts recommend installing the greenhouse so that the front and back ends face north and south, while the morning and evening sun shines on its sides.
