Keramzīts is a construction material - a filler that is four times lighter than traditionally used fillers such as sand and gravel. It is not recommended to use different fractions of keramzīts in one construction, as the smaller fraction granules, when settling between the larger fraction granules, cause uncontrolled settling of the material. The maximum compaction of keramzīts granules is 10% of their volume. Keramzīts should only be used if the layer is thicker than half a meter.
