Tikkurila Furniture Lacquer

Tikkurila lacquer, Kiva (furniture lacquer) - Water-dilutable, non-yellowing acrylic lacquer for interior use. Suitable for lacquering wooden surfaces indoors - furniture, children's toys, wall panels, ceilings, etc. Not suitable for floor lacquering. Glossy, semi-gloss and semi-matte. Non-yellowing, tintable, water-based acrylic lacquer for interior use. Suitable for painted and finished wooden surfaces as a protective lacquer. Can be used on wooden surfaces in interiors, following the instructions for use. Not suitable for floors (use Parketti-Ässä floor lacquer for floor lacquering). Furniture such as tables, chairs, bookshelves, etc., toys and wooden panels, wooden ceilings, doors and other wooden surfaces. Consumption 8-14 m²/l. The consumption of lacquer depends on the wood species, as well as the porosity and hardness of the wood.

Drying time (23°C, relative humidity 50%) Dust does not stick after approximately 1/2 hour. Sanding and applying the next coat can be done after 2-3 hours. The surface is ready for use the next day. The lacquered surface reaches full hardness approximately 2 weeks after lacquering. During this time, avoid loading, cleaning, placing sticky and hot objects on the surface.

The surface to be treated must be dry, temperature +10 ºC, relative humidity 30-80%.

New wooden surface: Remove dirt and dust from the surface. Lightly moisten the surface with water, dry it, and then sand the raised wood fibers. Clean the sanding dust.

Previously lacquered wooden surface: Clean the surface with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse thoroughly with water. Lightly sand the surface. Using Maalinpoisto paint remover or sanding, remove the damaged, old lacquer. Then treat it as a new wooden surface.

Before use and periodically during use, Kiva furniture lacquer should be thoroughly mixed. If necessary, dilute with water. Apply 2-3 coats with a brush, roller, or sprayer. If using a tinted product, to ensure color matching, perform a test lacquering on a piece of wood. The final tone depends on the wood species, hardness, original tone, and number of coats applied. For the first coat, apply 20-30% of the diluted tinted product with water. Usually, the desired tone and gloss are achieved after applying two coats. To achieve a uniform tone, the surface should always be treated in one continuous pass without interruptions. For large, paneled surfaces, treat a few boards simultaneously.

The surface can be cleaned no earlier than two weeks after lacquering. Lightly clean the surface with a soft brush, roller, or cloth and a neutral (pH 6-8) cleaning agent. Do not leave the surface wet. Very dirty surfaces can be cleaned with a weak (pH 8-10) cleaning agent and, for example, a cloth, brush, or roller. Rinse thoroughly with water.
