Ultratop Base Coat is specifically formulated to be used as a base coat before applying transparent protective finishes from the Ultratop, Ultratop Living and Ultratop Loft coating systems.

Ultratop Base Coat is a one-component, transparent acrylic formulation in water dispersion according to a formula developed in the MAPEI R&D laboratories and is used as a base coat to even out absorption and seal pores before applying transparent protective finishes from the Mapefloor Finish range on Ultratop, Ultratop Living and Ultratop Loft coating systems.

Substrate preparation

The surface of Ultratop, Ultratop Living or Ultratop Loft must be completely hardened and perfectly dry before applying the product. Eliminate all traces of dirt and loose areas in the substrate and remove all dust with an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Wait 12 to 24 hours after applying the cementitious coating product (waiting time to be assessed according to the type of product, the thickness of the coats applied, surrounding temperature, etc.) before applying Ultratop Base Coat.

Preparation of the product

Ultratop Base Coat is supplied ready to use. Mix the product briefly in its own tank and pour the amount required into a clean container. Do not dilute the product.

Application of the product

Apply an even coat of Ultratop Base Coat using a suitable wax mop, or a short-pile roller such as mohair in two directions at right angles to each other, or by airless spray, making sure that excess of product is not left on the surface. Once it has completely hardened, the next coats of protective finish from the Mapefloor Finish range may be applied.
