Details

The Elpojoša, metalized DuPont Climate Systems diffusion membrane with a heat-reflective effect, high water vapor permeability, protection against UV radiation in summer, and high energy efficiency in winter. Country of origin: Luxembourg. The main task of the windproof insulation is to provide optimal conditions for thermal insulation materials and external building structures. The main functions of the windproof membranes are to protect the thermal insulation layer from air and moisture penetration, as well as to ensure one-way movement of water vapor from the inside to the outside. Therefore, windproof membranes should also have a good level of vapor permeability.

The functions of windproof membranes are somewhat similar to mineral wool windproof boards (such as PAROC, ISOVER, or ROCKWOOL), but the advantage of membranes is their lower cost, higher density, and certain types of membranes provide increased resistance to water. The most important quality criteria for windproof insulation are: high vapor permeability (desired diffusion coefficient greater than 1200 g/m²); longevity (at least 50 years); increased water resistance. A high-quality windproof membrane should be able to withstand the pressure of a water column more than two meters high. The windproof insulation membrane is tightly attached to the thermal insulation material from the outside (without gaps), forming 10-15 cm overlaps, which are recommended to be sealed with appropriate adhesive tapes, such as Tyvek tape. Above the windproof insulation on roofs or walls, ventilation gaps should be created, no less than 5 cm (roofs) and no less than 2 cm (walls).
