Details

Diffusion film with micro-perforations. Used in sloping insulated roof and wall constructions as a windproof insulating membrane. One side of the material is smoother than the other. When applying the material, the smoother side should face the insulation. Create 10-15 cm overlaps and seal them with Tyvek Tape or Gerband Outside DM Tape (386). Country of origin: EU.

The main purpose of the windproof insulation is to provide optimal conditions for the thermal insulation material and the external structures of the building. The main functions of the windproof film are to protect the thermal insulation layer from air and moisture penetration, as well as to ensure one-way movement of water vapor from the inside to the outside. Therefore, windproof films should also have good vapor permeability.

The functions of windproof films are somewhat similar to mineral wool windproof boards (such as PAROC, ISOVER or ROCKWOOL), but the advantage of films is their lower cost, higher density, and certain types of windproof films provide increased resistance to water.

The most important quality criteria for windproof insulation are: high vapor permeability (desired diffusion coefficient greater than 1200 g/m²); durability (at least 50 years); increased water resistance. A high-quality windproof film should be able to withstand the pressure of a two-meter high water column.

Windproof insulation film should be tightly attached to the insulation material from the outside (without gaps), creating 10-15 cm overlaps that are recommended to be sealed with appropriate adhesive tapes, such as Tyvek tape. Ventilation gaps should be created above the windproof insulation on roofs or walls, with a minimum of 5 cm (roofs) and 2 cm (walls).
