Details

UV stabilized 200 micron thick polyethylene film. Used as vapor insulation for walls and roofs. Material is stabilized against natural aging and UV radiation. Overlaps of 10cm-15cm should be glued or welded. Country of origin: EU. Vapor insulation films, or vapor barriers, are the simplest and most commonly used construction films. They do not allow water vapor to pass through in either direction (outside-inside or vice versa) and are considered "non-breathable" films.

However, this insulation provides protection against moisture, protecting both the insulation material itself and the building structure. Vapor insulation is used for roof, wall, and floor insulation.

The market offers a wide range of these films, and the quality of the products varies. Therefore, when choosing a vapor insulation film, several conditions must be considered. The exterior vapor insulation film may resemble a regular film, but this is a deceptive impression. According to European Union (EU) and Latvian building regulations, the film must be at least 0.2 mm or 200 microns thick. It must be made of primary polyethylene (polypropylene) and not have secondary polyethylene additives, as many of the offered vapor insulation films may have. This can be noticed "by eye" - if the film has secondary polyethylene additives, sand particles, impurities, etc. will be visible, which will reduce the quality of the film during use.

A high-quality vapor insulation film must be stable against UV radiation. During the production process, a special chemical additive is added to the mass from which the film is made, stabilizing the polyethylene molecules and extending the lifespan of the film. High-quality vapor insulation films are colorless or have a light, clear color (e.g., blue) rather than being pigmented. The film material must be supplemented with a UV stabilizer.
