The components of Ekovate are non-toxic, non-volatile, and harmless to human health.

Cellulose fiber resembles a thin tube. When moisture enters Ekovate, the cellulose fiber absorbs it, leaving the spaces between the fibers dry, and the thermal conductivity does not deteriorate until the moisture content in Ekovate is less than 23.5%. In case of a water emergency, Ekovate is capable of absorbing water in a volume 5-6 times greater than its own weight. Due to these properties, water does not accumulate in other parts of the structure. After drying, Ekovate does not lose its properties. This is possible thanks to the capillary structure of cellulose fibers (thin tubes).

EKOWOOL can absorb moisture, distribute it evenly throughout its volume, and then release it without losing its high insulation properties (up to 23.5% moisture). According to test results, Ekovate does not accumulate more than 15% moisture within a year.

For comparison, inorganic insulation (mineral wool) does not absorb moisture, but when condensing, it turns into water, which fills the gaps between the fibers. In this case, water can freeze or seep into other parts of the building structure, causing damage. The thermal conductivity of the material deteriorates rapidly - it decreases by 8% when the moisture level increases by 1%. This is why vapor and waterproofing are necessary for inorganic insulation materials.
