Students Ēriks Reinolds and Deivs Hantlijs made their first quilted vest in 1973 while staying in student dormitories. As they were preparing for a trip to Alaska, they were surprised to find that there was no ideal clothing available for such excursions. Marmot Mountain Works was founded in 1974. Meanwhile, their high-quality functional clothing, sleeping bags, backpacks, and tents are sold in 27 countries worldwide.
