When installing ventilation systems on roofs, the ridge beam, located between the roof battens and insulation material, would get damaged due to its weight. To solve this problem, Eero Saikonens created a new type of fastening that adjusts to weight changes and protects the roof covering. This simple yet highly useful invention became the foundation for the establishment of the company.

In the following years, the company's products demonstrated their durability in Finland's harsh climate. Subsequently, these same products became highly popular throughout Europe. Today, more than half of the company's total turnover comes from exports, which is a testament to the global recognition of VILPE products.
