Tikkurila Kilpi Roofing Paint, completely matte

Water-based acrylic paint for soft roof repair painting. The paint maintains its elasticity even at low temperatures.

Recommended use

For bitumen roofs.

Drying time (23°C, air relative humidity 50%): Can be touched after 1-2 hours. Next coat can be applied the next day. Air relative humidity, temperature, and wind affect drying time.
Density (kg/l): Approx. 1.3 kg/l, ISO 2811.
Water resistance: Good even in industrial environments and coastal climates.
Dry residue by volume (%): Approx. 40
Storage: Protect from frost.

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be stable and dry, air temperature must be at least +5ºC, and air relative humidity below 80%. Do not paint in strong sunlight. Paint before evening dew sets in, as moisture causes blushing of fresh paint layers and slows down the drying process. Do not paint the surface if it is too hot (>40°C) or if rain is expected.

Surface preparation

Clean the surface from dirt, dust, moss, and algae. Rinse the surface lightly with water and high-pressure washing. Using Tikkurila Homeenpoisto, it is possible to improve the cleaning quality.
Repair damages in the bitumen roof covering using a suitable patching compound. Observe applicable national health and safety measures when working on surfaces containing asbestos.

Painting

Thoroughly mix the paint before use. Apply in two coats. When applying with a roller or sprayer, finish the first coat with a brush. Dilute the paint by approximately 15% with water for the priming coat. Apply undiluted Kilpi Huopakattomaali as the topcoat. To avoid shade differences, mix sufficient amount of product for the entire surface in one container.

Cleaning of tools

Clean the tools with water. To clean slightly hardened paint, it is recommended to use Tikkurila Pensselipesu tool cleaning agent.

Surface maintenance

Two weeks after painting, the dirty surface can be rinsed thoroughly with water without cleaning agents.

Repainting

Surfaces painted with Kilpi Huopakattomaali can be repainted with the same product.
