Tikkurila Chalkboard Paint Matte

Water-borne paint for painting blackboards.

PRODUCT FEATURES

To create blackboard surfaces. Chalk writing adheres well to the painted surface and can be wiped off easily.

RECOMMENDED USES

Walls, furniture

• Colour Shades: Black n:o 202.
• Gloss: Matt.
• Coverage: 8-10 m2/l.
• Application method: Roller, brush or spraying. Conventional spraying, nozzle pressure 3-4 bar, nozzle 1.6" - 1.8", thinning 15-30 % by volume. Airless spraying: nozzle pressure 140-160 bar, nozzle 0,011" - 0,013", thinning 0 - 5 % by volume. Air-assisted high-pressure spray application: nozzle pressure 140-160 bar, atomizing air pressure 2 bar, nozzle 0,011" - 0,013", thinning 0-5 % by volume.
• Drying time: Recoatable after approx. 6 hours. Ready to use after approx. 1 week
• Density (kg/l): approx. 1.2 kg/l, depending on shade, ISO 2811
• Wet scrub resistance: SFS-EN 13300 class I, ISO 11998.
• Volume solids (%): 39
• Storage: Protect from frost and direct sunlight. Store and transport in tightly closed containers at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Close can carefully for next use. The product should be transported and stored in containers protecting against weather in temperature between +5°C to +25°C.

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +8°C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.

Surface preparation

Unpainted surfaces:
Remove dirt and dust from the surfaces. Fill the surfaces with a suitable Presto filler, if needed, and sand the dried surface. Remove the sanding dust. Prime wallsurfaces with Varma Primer and furniture with Helmi Primer or Otex Akva.

Previously painted surfaces:
Wash down previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu cleaning detergent following instructions on the label. Allow to dry. Sand the surface and remove sanding dust. Fill any holes and cracks with a suitable Presto product. Prime with a suitable product like Varma Primer, Helmi Primer or Otex Akva, if needed

Top coating

Stir Liitu carefully before use. Thin with water if necessary. Apply 1-2 coats with a roller, brush, or spray.

Cleaning of tools

Clean tools with water immediately after use. Remove as much paint as possible from painting tools before cleaning. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool cleaner) is recommended to be used for cleaning hardened paint from tools.

Maintenance instructions

Cleaning earliest approx. 1 month after painting, if needed:
The surfaces are cleaned with a neutral (pH 6-8) dish washing solution and soft brush, sponge or cleaning cloth. Clean very dirty surfaces with weakly alkaline (pH 8-10) detergent using e.g. cleaning cloth or sponge. Rinse the surface carefully.
