Tikkurila Otex Akva adhesion primer matte A, 0.9L

Quick-drying water-borne adhesion primer.

Recommended uses

For interior surfaces that require special adhesion. Also for exterior window frames painted with polyurethane or acid-curing paints.

Product features

Suitable as a primer and intermediate coat for both new and previously painted surfaces. Otex Akva adheres well to surfaces that require special adhesion, such as glass, tile, fiberglass, melamine, PVC plastic, aluminum, zinc-coated sheet metal, and surfaces coated with alkyd and acid-curing paint. Also suitable for wood, wood fiber board, chipboard and metal surfaces in dry interior premises. Not suitable for maintenance painting of surfaces painted with nitrocellulose lacquer.

Drying time: Touch dry after approx. 1 hour. Recoatable with Otex Akva after approx. 2 hours. Recoatable with topcoat after approx. 5 hours.

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry, the ambient temperature at least +8 °C and the relative humidity of air below 80%. A low temperature (approx. +15°C) and higher humidity (50–70 % RH) will lengthen the time paint can be kept open and make application easier.

Surface preparation

Clean the surface by removing any dirt and dust. Wash surfaces requiring special adhesion with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse carefully with water. Sand the surface matte. Remove the sanding dust.

Previously painted surfaces:

Application

Stir Otex Akva carefully before use and thin with water, if necessary. Apply with brush, roller, paint pad or spray. On large surfaces, it is recommended to first apply the paint with a furniture paint roller, for example, and then level the coat with a brush. We recommend the use of synthetic brushes with multi-branched bristles.

The surface can be finished after 5 hours with Unica Akva or Helmi finishing paint.

Cleaning of tools

Clean tools with water. Remove excess paint/ lacquer from tools and clean with water. Tikkurila Pensselipesu Tool Cleaner is recommended to remove slightly hardened paint. Remove excess paint from tools. Clean tools with water. Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool Cleaner) is recommended to be used to remove a bit hardened paint.
