Tikkurila, Otex (adhesive primer) - Fast-drying, completely matte, adhesive primer based on special resins. Suitable for priming new and previously painted surfaces. The primer has good adhesion to glass, tiles, fiberglass, PVC plastic, aluminum, galvanized metal, as well as surfaces painted with alkyd and catalytic paints. Suitable for interior surfaces that require very good adhesion and exterior window frames painted with polyurethane and catalytic paints. Can be tinted in shades from the Tikkurila Symphony 2436 color chart. Color accuracy is not perfect. The base can be used white or tinted (add half of the A base color pigment amount). The C base is used only for tinted.

APPLICATION

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry, air temperature at least +5ºC, and air relative humidity below 80%.

Preparation

Unpainted surfaces: Clean dirt and dust from unpainted surfaces. Treat resinous areas with Tikkurila Oksalakka. Wash the surface with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse thoroughly with water. Sand matte surfaces. Clean sanding dust. Previously painted surfaces: Wash previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse thoroughly with water. Sand the surface matte. Clean sanding dust.

Painting

Otex should be thoroughly mixed before use and, if necessary, thinned. When painting with a brush, thin with Vaitpirts 1050. When painting with a sprayer, thin with Thinners 1032. Apply Otex with a brush, roller, or sprayer. Otex adhesive primer levels well, so sanding is often not necessary. If a very smooth surface is desired, sanding should be done with fine sandpaper.

Cleaning of tools

Clean tools with Vaitpirts 1050 or Tikkurila Pensselipesu tool cleaning agent.

Surface maintenance

Surface cleaning can be done no earlier than 1 month after painting. Clean the surface with a neutral (pH 6-8) dishwashing detergent and a soft brush, sponge, or dust cloth. Very dirty surfaces can be cleaned with a neutral (pH 6-8) cleaning agent and a cloth or sponge. Rinse the surface thoroughly after cleaning. Handle the surface gently, as the final durability and hardness of the surface are achieved in about a month under normal conditions. If cleaning is necessary, use a soft brush or damp cloth.
