Tikkurila Unica Super Varnish for Interior and Exterior Use

Tikkurila paint, Unica Super - Fast-drying urethane alkyd paint. Contains UV protectants that slow down yellowing caused by sunlight. Tinted product provides better protection against sunlight than untinted product. Suitable for coating wooden surfaces in interior and exterior applications. Usage: Boats, furniture, and floors exposed to light mechanical stress. Can be tinted according to Tikkurila color chart for wood coatings and varnishes, and Valtti color charts. To ensure color accuracy, a test coating should be done. If the color is too dark, it can be lightened with clear Unica Super or Valtti Thinner 1050. Consumption 8-10 m²/l per coat. Drying time (23°C, air humidity 50%) Dust-free after 1 hour, touch-dry after 2 hours, recoatable after 6 hours. Next coat can be applied when the surface is dry. Full hardness is achieved after 4 weeks depending on ventilation, air temperature, air humidity, and film thickness.

Storage: Not affected by storage or transportation in cold conditions. A film may form if the container is loosely closed or partially empty.

The surface to be treated must be dry. During application and drying, the air temperature must be at least +5ºC and the air humidity below 70%. Avoid working in direct sunlight or in wet and cold weather. Plan the work so that the paint film has dried before evening dew sets in.

Untreated surface: Remove dirt and dust from new wooden surfaces. Before treatment, wipe the surface with Valtti Thinner. Before applying paint, untreated exterior wooden surfaces must always be primed with Valtti Primer.

Previously treated surface: Wash the surface with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse thoroughly with water. Remove old/peeling paint with a scraper. Sand the surface and remove dust.

Before use and periodically during work, thoroughly mix Unica Super. New surfaces should be primed with diluted glossy Unica Super (20% Valtti Thinner). Finish the job by applying 1-2 coats of undiluted paint. On previously treated surfaces, apply undiluted Unica Super evenly in 1-2 thin coats. Lightly sand the surface between coats.

Within 1 month after treatment: Clean the surface with a neutral cleaning agent (pH 6-8) using a soft brush, sponge, or cloth. For heavily soiled surfaces, clean with a slightly alkaline cleaning agent (pH 8-10) using a scrub brush, brush, or sponge. Rinse the surface thoroughly with water.

The surface achieves full hardness and durability under normal conditions after a few weeks (1 month), so handle the surface with care until then. If the surface needs to be cleaned sooner, use a soft brush, damp cloth, or sponge.

Do not dispose of in drains, water bodies, or soil. Empty containers must be recycled or disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Liquid waste must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Risk of self-ignition! Cleaning rags, sanding dust, and spray residue can self-ignite. Such waste should be collected and stored, for example, in water or dried outside, or immediately disposed of.
