Details

Wind insulation for structures exposed to direct sunlight. Used in "open" facades as a specially UV-resistant wind insulation with very high water vapor permeability. Apply tightly to the outside of the thermal insulation material, creating 10-15 cm overlaps. Apply with the black side facing outwards. Overlaps are glued with Tyvek UV Facade Tape. 50-year warranty (if the gaps between facade materials are no more than 2 cm). Country of origin: Luxembourg.

The main task of wind insulation is to provide optimal conditions for thermal insulation materials and external structures of the building. The main functions of windproof membranes are to protect the thermal insulation layer from air and moisture penetration, as well as to ensure one-way movement of water vapor from the inside to the outside. Therefore, windproof membranes should also have good vapor permeability.

The functions of windproof membranes are somewhat similar to mineral wool windproof boards (such as PAROC, ISOVER or ROCKWOOL), but the advantage of membranes is their lower cost, higher density, and certain types of membranes provide increased resistance to water. The most important quality criteria for wind insulation are: high vapor permeability (preferably greater than 1200 g/m²); durability (at least 50 years); increased water resistance. A high-quality windproof membrane should be able to withstand the pressure of a two-meter-high water column.

The windproof membrane is applied tightly to the outside of the thermal insulation material (without gaps), creating 10-15 cm overlaps, which are recommended to be glued with dedicated adhesive tapes, such as Tyvek tape. Ventilation gaps of at least 5 cm (for roofs) and at least 2 cm (for walls) are created above the wind insulation on roofs or exterior walls.
