Knauf - one of the leading manufacturers of building materials in the world.
With more than 60 countries and over 220 factories worldwide, the Knauf group employs more than 23,000 employees. In 2008, the group's turnover reached 5.6 billion euros.
In each country market, there is an intensive collaboration based on mutual trust with building material suppliers, construction project developers, and architects. This collaboration is facilitated by the decentralized structure of the Knauf group. Customer-oriented thinking has been, is, and will continue to be one of the essential core values of Knauf employees.

General description

Reserves of 1.1 billion tons of gypsum rock provide security for individual factories for several generations. Overall, there are more than 60 gypsum rock quarries worldwide. In addition to gypsum rock extraction, numerous plants are also supplied with synthetic gypsum obtained from coal power plants during flue gas desulfurization.

In the early 1970s, the group's internationalization began and continues to this day. Currently, the group manufactures and offers its products in all European countries. There are also factories in North and South America, the CIS countries, Turkey, China, and Indonesia.

The product range includes traditional gypsum board panels, plasters for interior and exterior work, as well as glass fiber or polystyrene insulation materials. Machinery for the transportation of materials is also produced to ensure the logistics of construction projects.

The versatile range also includes gypsum fiber boards for walls and floors, as well as various ceiling systems, the essential components of which are mineral fiber boards, gypsum board panels, or metal panels.

Insulation materials

While in the past, the group's primary products were gypsum board panels, which were considered the main product, and plasters, the group has now also developed insulation material production as an additional industry.

This decision was based on the acquisition of a glass fiber manufacturer in Shelbyville, USA in 1978.

Today, the production of glass and stone wool insulation materials is becoming increasingly important. Knauf can boast 30 years of experience in glass wool production in North America. In the past five years, 10 glass and stone wool factories have also been acquired in Europe, and investments have been made in the construction of new factories in Eastern Europe and Russia.

Dry construction

The beginnings of dry construction can be traced back to 1958. At that time, the first Knauf gypsum board factory was built in Iphofen. Since then, this industry has been continuously improved and technologically advanced.

Stable and convincing growth, as well as the acquisition of the Danish company DANOGIPS and the Norwegian company NORGIPS in 1992 and 2004, respectively, have allowed the Knauf group to further expand its market position. Currently, the annual capacity of more than 40 factories exceeds 1 billion square meters.

Molded products

Polystyrene forms

What started with the acquisition of a small company has now developed into an independent product industry. In France, mainly polystyrene forms for packaging, as well as low-pressure molded products for the automotive and entertainment electronics industries, are manufactured. There is no doubt that the Knauf brand promises high-quality products and a wide range of services in all represented industries.

Plasters

An integral part of the Knauf group is plaster production. It started in the 1930s with the production of hand-applied plasters made of gypsum and has now developed into a versatile manufacturing industry.

The range of gypsum, lime, and cement plasters offers the highest level of technical solutions for interior and exterior construction.
